Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Secret Simple Computer Repair, which also does business as Secret Simple IT (“Secret Simple,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit our website (secretsimplecomputerrepair.com), contact us, or use our services. We provide on-site computer repair in Central Texas and remote IT support. This Privacy Policy applies to all Secret Simple Computer Repair websites and services, including secretsimplecomputerrepair.com and our related sites and programs (such as our Password Academy and IT Health Checkup offerings).

Secret Simple Computer Repair (doing business as Secret Simple IT)
1320 Arrow Point Dr, Suite 501 #TW86, Cedar Park, TX 78613
Phone/Text: 512-592-7623 · Email: support@secretsimpleit.com · Website: secretsimplecomputerrepair.com

Plain-English Summary

  • We collect only what we need to help you.
  • We never store full card or bank numbers.
  • We don’t ask for or store your passwords, Social Security numbers, or dates of birth.
  • When we work on your device, we look only at what the job needs and keep what we see confidential.
  • We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share your mobile number or text-message consent with anyone for their marketing.

1) Information We Collect

A. Information you give us

  • Contact info: name, phone number, email address.
  • Billing or service address.
  • Communications: messages you send us through website forms, email, text (SMS), phone calls, and social media such as Facebook or LinkedIn.
  • Service details: what’s going wrong, what you’d like done, and scheduling preferences.

B. Device information

  • Device make and model.
  • Operating system.
  • Names and versions of installed software.
  • Support notes and service history.

C. Website usage

  • IP address.
  • Browser and device type.
  • Pages viewed.

See Section 5, “Cookies and Analytics,” for more.

2) What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or store:

  • Full credit or debit card numbers.
  • Bank account numbers, unless you give them directly to a payment processor (we never see or store them).
  • Passwords.
  • Social Security numbers.
  • Dates of birth.

In the rare case a job seems to need sensitive information, we’ll talk with you first about safer options, such as you typing a password yourself while we wait.

3) Data We See on Your Devices During Service

To repair or support a computer, phone, or network, in person or remotely, we may be able to see files, emails, photos, or other personal information on your device. Here’s how we handle that:

  • We access only what the job needs. We go where the problem is, not through your personal files.
  • We don’t copy or keep your personal files unless the work requires it, for example a data transfer or backup you asked for.
  • We keep anything we see confidential. We don’t share it, talk about it, or use it for anything else.
  • We delete temporary copies when the job is done. Any data we copied to complete your request (such as during a transfer or backup) is securely deleted promptly after the work is complete and you’ve confirmed everything arrived safely.

4) Payments

We accept cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Bitcoin, and credit and debit cards. Electronic payments go through third-party payment processors: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Stripe, Authorize.net, and Deluxe. When you pay electronically, your card or bank details go straight to that processor, which handles them under its own privacy policy and security standards. Records of older payments may also be held by payment processors we used in the past.

Bitcoin: if you pay with Bitcoin, we receive the wallet address and transaction details needed to confirm the payment. Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public blockchain, which anyone can view and which can’t be changed or deleted, by us or anyone else.

Checks: a check shows your bank account and routing numbers. We use it only to deposit the payment and don’t keep a copy of those numbers in our records.

We may receive limited details from the payment service, such as your name, email address or phone number, the last 4 digits of your card, and whether a payment went through. We never store full card or bank account numbers. For subscriptions, we keep only the last 4 digits and the payment status.

5) Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, understand how visitors use it, and improve it. The tools we currently use are:

  • GoHighLevel tracking code (through Dashboard Local), for our website forms and customer records.
  • Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site.
  • RingCentral, for phone and text.

We don’t currently use advertising pixels (such as the Facebook/Meta Pixel). If that changes, we’ll update this policy.

These tools may collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you got to our site.

Your choices:

  • Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Some site features, such as chat or forms, may not work properly without them.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • “Do Not Track”: we don’t currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.

6) SMS / Text Messaging

We use text messaging to communicate with clients and people who contact us. Our texting runs through Dashboard Local, a customer messaging platform built on GoHighLevel, and RingCentral.

  • How you opt in: you agree to receive service texts from us when you text us first, agree through our website form to receive service-related texts, or tell us in person, by phone, or in writing that we may text you.
  • What we send: service-related texts only, such as appointment confirmations and reminders, service updates, support conversations, invoices, and payment reminders.
  • We don’t send marketing or promotional texts.
  • Consent is not a condition of purchase. You don’t have to agree to texts to buy our services.
  • Message frequency varies.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • To opt out, reply STOP at any time. We’ll send one message confirming you’ve been unsubscribed, and then we’ll stop texting you.
  • For help, reply HELP, call 512-592-7623, or email support@secretsimpleit.com.
  • Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. We share this information only with the service providers who help us send messages (such as our texting platform and its carrier partners), and only to deliver those messages.

7) How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • Schedule appointments and communicate with you.
  • Send invoices and process payments.
  • Keep troubleshooting records and service history, so we can help you faster next time.
  • Prevent fraud and protect our business and clients.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

8) AI-Assisted Tools

We use a customer-relationship platform (HighLevel, provided through Dashboard Local) for scheduling, messaging, and records. The chat on our website may be answered by an AI assistant powered by HighLevel, through Dashboard Local, using OpenAI. When you use the chat, your chat messages are processed by these providers. We also use AI to help draft replies to public online reviews, so the text of those reviews is processed by these providers too. HighLevel’s privacy policy says it does not use personal information to train generalized, public AI models. Each provider’s own policies govern how it handles data.

  • You can ask to speak with a person at any time.
  • A person at Secret Simple stays responsible for the service we provide to you.
  • We never put passwords or sensitive client information into any AI tool.

9) How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to run our business:

  • Service providers that help us operate, such as CRM and scheduling tools (Dashboard Local / GoHighLevel), phone and text providers (RingCentral and Dashboard Local), email providers, and payment processors. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Our support team: our team includes support staff and contractors outside the United States, including in the Philippines, who may access your contact and scheduling information to coordinate appointments and follow up with you. They’re bound by written confidentiality agreements and get only the access they need.
  • Remote support and meeting tools: for remote sessions we use Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and AnyDesk. When you join a session through one of these tools, that tool’s own privacy policy also applies to the information it collects.
  • Legal process: when required by law, subpoena, or court order.
  • Protecting rights and safety: to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the rights, property, or safety of our clients or others.
  • Business transfers: if the business is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

We do not sell your personal information.

10) Testimonials

If you give us a review or testimonial, we may use it in our marketing. We credit each review using your name exactly as you already show it publicly where you posted it (for example, on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or Thumbtack). That might be a nickname, your full name, or your first name and last initial. We never add details you didn’t share. If you’d like your testimonial removed or changed, email support@secretsimpleit.com and we’ll take care of it.

11) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. We practice what we preach: we keep systems updated, use strong authentication, and limit who can access client data. Still, no method of storing or sending data is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

If a data breach happens: if we learn that a breach has exposed your personal information, we will notify affected clients as required by law. Texas law requires notice within 60 days after a breach is determined.

12) Data Retention

We keep information for as long as we need it to maintain your service history, run our business, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. We keep some records, such as tax and accounting records, for as long as the law requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

13) Your Requests: Access, Correction, and Deletion

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing support@secretsimpleit.com or calling 512-592-7623. We’ll need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

  • We acknowledge requests within 2 business days.
  • We complete them within 30 days.

Some information may need to be kept for legal, tax, or accounting reasons. If so, we’ll tell you.

14) Where We Provide Services

We provide on-site service in Central Texas. Remote support: available outside Texas on request. Our team includes support staff and contractors outside the United States, including in the Philippines, who help with scheduling and follow-up. If you’re outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the United States and the Philippines. If you’re in the European Union or United Kingdom, see Section 15.

15) For Clients in the EU/UK

If you’re in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the UK GDPR gives you the extra rights below. For these clients, Secret Simple Computer Repair is the “controller” of your personal information. Contact details are at the top of this policy.

Our legal bases for using your information:

  • Contract: to provide the services you ask for, schedule work, send invoices, and take payment.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep service records, improve our services, secure our systems, prevent fraud, and run our business, as long as those interests aren’t outweighed by your rights.
  • Consent: where we ask for it, such as for service texts or optional cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting, and other legal requirements.

Your rights. You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Rectification: have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Erasure: have your information deleted.
  • Restriction: limit how we use your information.
  • Portability: receive your information in a common, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: object to our use of your information based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent at any time. This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email support@secretsimpleit.com. We’ll verify your identity, acknowledge your request within 2 business days, and complete it within 30 days.

Complaints. You have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, such as the authority in your EU country or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We’d appreciate the chance to fix your concern first, so please contact us.

Transfers outside the EU/UK. We’re based in the United States, and our support staff in the Philippines may access your contact and scheduling information, so your information is processed in the U.S. and the Philippines. Transfers to our service providers rely on the standard contractual clauses (and, for the UK, the UK addendum or equivalent) that our service providers put in place.

16) Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

17) Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
